October 19, 2023 — BUILDING RESILIENT LANDSCAPES

In the changing world in which we find ourselves, it behooves us to build resiliency into every landscape. The days of landscapes dedicated to beauty alone are passing. Customers are demanding ecologically sensitive landscapes; they want reduced maintenance and greater wildlife value. Join Dan Jaffe Wilder, author, and the Director of Applied Ecology at Norcross Wildlife Foundation for a discussion about resilient landscapes. From choosing native plants, to dealing with weeds, to the problem that is the American Lawn Dan will touch on numerous challenges and solutions to building resiliency into every landscape.  

 

Presenter Bio

Dan Jaffe Wilder has 15+ years experience in ecological horticulture. This includes experience in propagation of native species, as a photographer and author of Native Plants for New England Gardens, a teacher and lecturer of numerous topics including pollinators, sustainable landscape practices, foraging and cultivation of edible species, low-maintenance horticulture and others.  Dan is the Director of Applied Ecology at Norcross Wildlife Foundation in Wales, Massachusetts and its 8,000 acre sanctuary.  He is also on the Board of Directors of ELA and is passionate about ecological practices and finding better ways to support landscape stewardship!

Continuing Education Credits are being sought for this program.
