Eco-Answers with an ELA Eco-Pro – Living Shorelines

Wed, September 21, 2022 @ 6:30 pm EDT

Special ELA Members Only Event – If you aren’t yet a member, you can join here.

Concerned about Climate Change and coastal environments? Have a current project or interested in adding shoreline restoration to your business services? Are you involved in a non-profit and would like to bring skills and techniques to your community? Join Rosmarie Lohnes from Helping Nature Heal Inc. to ask your questions and get professional advice to help create strategies to slow erosion.

A Living Shoreline uses nature’s own materials, advanced principles of science and ecosystem restoration expertise to restore vegetation and stabilize coastal slopes. During this 45-minute live Zoom, Rosmarie will start the evening with brief opening remarks, a few slides, and then jump right into your questions for the bulk of the Q&A session.

Some topics that Rosmarie can address are:

  • How are living shorelines designed?
  • What plants are best for stabilization, regeneration, wildlife?
  • What are the basics that can be applied to any shoreline environment?
  • How can shoreline restoration be incorporated into a landscape business model?
  • How can we help teach these skills to communities?
  • And more…

You can email questions in advance to help guide Rosmarie’s remarks. You are welcome to submit photos of plants or sites to provide some context for your questions and to add interest to the discussion. Send questions and photos to office@ecolandscaping.org.

If you are unable to submit your questions in advance, no problem, we will also be taking questions throughout the event. When you register for Eco-Answers with the ELA Eco-Pros, you will receive your Zoom Webinar link in a separate email.
