2024 Webinar: Climate-Wise Landscaping
Wed, February 28 @ 12:00 pm EST - 1:00 pm EST
February 28, 2024 — Climate Wise Landscaping
Ginny Stibolt co-wrote “Climate-Wise Landscaping: Practical Actions for a Sustainable Future” with Sue Reed a landscape architect in Massachusetts. Dr. Doug Tallamy wrote an excellent foreword for our book. Published by New Society Press in BC, Canada. This book takes an optimistic approach with hundreds of actions that people can take now to accomplish at least one of 3 objectives: 1) help the landscape survive climate change, 2) help wildlife survive climate change, 3) help to mitigate climate change. Even though this book is not specifically for Florida, these actions may be more important for Floridians than those on higher ground. It won the Foreword-Indie 2018 GOLD Winner for Ecology & Environment

Presenter Bio:
Ginny Stibolt, a lifelong gardener with an MS degree in Botany, faced new challenges when she moved to northeast Florida in 2004. Undeterred, she immersed herself in Florida-centric gardening, documenting her experiences in a monthly column for The Florida Times Union and later TransplantedGardener.com. Ginny’s practical insights, tested in her own yard, focus on sustainable landscaping and vegetable cultivation with her husband, Dean Avery. As the former garden writer for Vero Beach Magazine, she gained recognition for her contributions.
An active member of the Florida Native Plant Society, Ginny advocates for native flora and encourages participation in local chapters and educational events. Her commitment to learning is evident at the society’s annual conference, where she continues her exploration of her adopted home state. Ginny is the author of 5 books and the co-author of Climate-Wise Landscaping.
