2023 Webinar: Ferns – The Green Wonders of Nature

Wed, August 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm EDT - 7:00 pm EDT

AUGUST 23, 2023 — FERNS – THE GREEN WONDERS OF NATURE

Often times by the dog days of summer, some plants in the garden are looking weary.  These plants may need some help — or even needed deadheading.  It’s possible, with enough heat, a wholesale cutting back is required.

Ferns, though, are surprisingly hardy.  As delicate as they might look texturally from the moment of their first emergence in spring, it is always surprising how even in the height of the heat, they are incredibly tough and resilient.  This session will focus on including ferns in your garden and specifically, what the native ferns can do to enhance the beauty and increase the resiliency of your design.  Uli Lorimer of Native Plant Trust, will tell us some fern lore and some fern care, and even how they reproduce so we can propagate more of them ourselves.
