As urbanization and a rapidly changing climate continue to exert stressors on cities and gardens, the task of reforesting at a rate that matches the loss of tree canopy becomes ever more daunting. Join Sara Evans, Senior Manager and Curator of the Living Collections at Green-Wood where she will shed light on a tree planting project at Green-Wood that ditched the burlap and planted 250 bare root trees. Learn insights of the successes, challenges, and progress of the tree establishment one year after planting.

Presenter Bio

Sara Evans is the Senior Manager and Curator of the Living Collection at The Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. She provides leadership for the development, documentation, and curation of Green-Wood’s plant collections. She joined the horticulture team upon graduating from CUNY Brooklyn College where she received a B.A. in Urban Sustainability.
