Personal Bio | I am a lifelong gardener and naturalist with roots in the beautiful ecosystems of New York State. Through a job as an environmental educator at a nature preserve in Westchester County, I met my business partner Julie Sootin. The two of us now own Wild Gardens Nursery, with a mission to "rewild the lower Hudson Valley one plant at a time." |
Business Description | Wild Gardens Nursery grows and sells native perennial plants in Westchester County. Our nursery promotes sustainable ecosystems at all levels, including the reduction of plastic waste in the process of growing and marketing our plants. By producing native perennials from seed, raising them mostly in the ground rather than pots, and selling then in "CowPots" made from manure, we aim to reduce external inputs of water and energy, and let nature do as much of the work as possible. |
