Description: Mass Audubon is the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England. Founded in 1896 by two women who fought for the protection of birds, Mass Audubon carries on their legacy by focusing on the greatest challenges facing the environment today: the loss of biodiversity, inequitable access to nature, and climate change.
With the help of 160,000 members and supporters, we protect wildlife, conserve and restore resilient land, advocate for impactful environmental policies, offer nationally recognized education programs for adults and children, and provide endless opportunities to experience the outdoors at our wildlife sanctuaries.
The Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC) is a science-based environmental advocacy organization with a mission to protect the Cape’s natural resources. Wastewater, stormwater and fertilizers are threats to water quality and therefore APCC promote s chemical-free yard care and green infrastructure applications, while working with Cape communities to address wastewater management on Cape Cod.
Marie Chieppo, a renowned ecological landscape designer and principal of EcoPlantPlans from Cape Cod will present a talk about the ecological uniqueness of Cape Cod and how we can best support it through thoughtful design and landcare practices. Marie is a certified landscape designer and Accredited Organic Landcare Professional (NOFA CT) who works in partnership with nature to create beautiful and healthy landscapes. She is a contributing author of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod’s recent publication “Guidelines for Cape-friendly Landscapes for Water, Healthy Yards, and Our Local Ecology.
