Personal Bio | I have been gardening since childhood and developed a special interest in growing heirloom varieties of vegetables and flowers from seed. This and my studies at New England Wild Flower Society (now Native Plant Trust) and the founding of the Organic Land Care Program at NOFA became the genesis of my business, Pumpkin Brook Organic Gardening, in 2001. Prior to that, I had careers in institutional advancement for nonprofit organizations and sales. In 2022, I sold my business and am starting a new career in garden writing. |
Business Description | My interest is in researching lost gardens and their history, beginning with the Lowthorpe School of Landscape Design (1901-45) in Groton, MA, the first institution where women could attain this type of education. I am drafting the outline of a book on the school's history and its graduates. |
