Personal Bio | Peter Atkins is an accredited Landscape Designer in New York and Connecticut. Peter is also accredited as a North East Organic Land Care Professional (AOLCP). Peter attended the Cary Institute of Ecological system studies in Millbrook, NY with studies in their Landscape Design department. He has a certificate from the Rhode Island University in Permaculture Design. Permaculture is a system of agricultural and social design principles centered around simulating or directly utilizing the patters and features observed in a natural ecosystem. I am often asked what kind of gardens I like to create: cottage, formal, Japanese-style, native, shade, vegetable, wildlife, or woodland. The answer – whatever will make my clients feel more at home. I find all my clients, despite their protests, know what they like and want, and they have a keen eye. My job is to intuit this as we create a landscape design. With a passion for the work of plants, an eye for composition and an analytical nature that brings unparalleled beauty and sophistication to his work, Peter Atkins blends an art history sensibility with sustainable materials and utilizes ecological and organic methods. Peter work is also known for using native plants that support the pollinator pathway program. Plant Choices support pollinators like bees, birds and butterflies which bring vibrant beauty and magic to the garden. My projects cover the gamut, from designing intimate entrance areas and steep hillside gardens, to developing comprehensive landscape plans for multi-acre properties. I welcome the opportunity to create a garden sanctuary for you. |
