| Personal Bio | I started Loba Landscapes in 1998, long before native plants were trending. An early believer in ecological landscaping and incorporating Illinois native plants into the home garden, I hold a Certificate in Horticulture from The Morton Arboretum. I am also a Certified Master Naturalist and a prairie steward on the Schulenberg Prairie at the Morton Arboretum. I never stopped gardening, but I took a 22 year break from designing for others to teach Yoga and to take 13 trips to India to study and teach. In March, 2023 I developed pulmonary emboli that were “too many to count” and I did not realize how close I was to dying. Contemplating life while in the hospital, I decided to fully return to my love of Nature. From the beginning, my garden design niche was using Illinois native plants and the eco-landscaping ethos. I know that not everybody wants a garden that is 100% native plants, so that is why I am all about “gardens with a touch of the wild” and still be sustainable. |
