Personal Bio | My name is Kirsten Gardner McIntyre, with a name like that I knew I was going to be a gardener - how could I not? I grew up on a New Zealand sheep farm with a hands-on approach; my father valued education, technology and experience; working smarter not harder. One of my first farming memories was learning how to identify Scottish thistles (Cirsium vulgare) and English Gorse (Ulex europaeus) then how to eradicate them. Helping to improve the landscape so the animals had more feed, and keep the thistle heads and thorns out of the fleece when I did wool handling was a win win. Family vacations were out in our national parks, hiking and camping, this is where I got my love of the land and sense of self. Yes, New Zealand really is s good as the hype. My husband and I travelled and lived abroad in the U.K., Ireland, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia before settling in Missouri. I know that happiness is immersing yourself where you live, and the Ozark's is different, it is truly beautiful, special and unique. |
