Personal Bio | Passion for environmental conservation, preservation of wildlife habitat, and proliferation of native plants. Strong focus on sustainability, climate resiliency, and protecting pollinators. Organic gardener for 10+ years. |
Business Description | Sweetfern is a small native plant nursery in Carver, Massachusetts focusing on growing New England native plants that support birds and pollinators. Seeds are sourced from native plant nurseries that do not not use neonicotinoids and are committed to ethical practices. Plants are grown with organic soil medium, are kept high up off the ground to avoid the spread of jumping worms, and are never treated with any type of chemical. Every plant is placed in a biodegradable brown paper pot (repurposed from grocery bags) when purchased to reduce the use of plastic. I have 20 years of experience as a horticulturist and floral designer and enjoy hosting hands-on creative and educational workshops for people of all ages and abilities. |
