Webinar: The Clandestine Orchid

Wed, September 7 @ 12:00 pm EDT - 1:00 pm EDT

Join Leslie Duthie for a virtual walk through central Massachusetts in search of orchids. What has spurred people’s interest in orchids? They are not always the showiest flower in the wild. They are often hard to find. They are flighty, appearing in one location this year, but gone the next! Discover a variety of orchid species found in New England throughout the spring and summer and learn more about why this family of plants can be so elusive.

Presenter Bio

Leslie Duthie is a lifelong gardener. She was formerly employed at the Norcross Wildlife Sanctuary, where she was the horticulturist and plant propagator for over 38 years. An accomplished grower of ferns and wildflowers, Leslie’s love of ferns began when she first learned how to raise them from spores. Now retired, she volunteers at various gardens and works to protect land for her local Conservation Commission and land trust.
