2023 Webinar: Ecological Land Care: Integrating Horticulture with Ecology

Wed, March 29, 2023 @ 12:00 pm EDT - 1:00 pm EDT

MARCH 29 — ECOLOGICAL LAND CARE

Ecological Land Care sounds easy, but as we learn, actually integrating horticulture with ecology takes time and patience.  This session will help us understand how we, as gardeners, can meld horticulture and ecology practices to positively impact gardens and ecosystems.  We will also explore why traditional garden practices (ie, mulching for aesthetics, overuse of synthetic fertilizers, tilling, and creating space between plants) generally have a negative impact on native plant gardens, as well as creating a cycle of excessive inputs.  Together we will explore methods to make one’s garden more biodiverse and ecologically sustainable!

Presenter Bio

Cody George is an Ecological Horticulturist and Manager of Native Restoration & Management (NRM), an ecological land care company in Northwest Arkansas.  Through the work of NRM, George aims to create and steward biodiverse landscapes through ecological, organic, and quiet land care.  He received his BS in Landscape Horticulture through the University of Arkansas and become the regions first accredited organic land care professional (AOLCP) through NOFA in 2020.  He has worked within the green industry of Arkansas since 2004.

Continuing Education Credits are being sought for this program.
