Class: Plant Nutrients

Three Saturday sessions:
January 29, February 5, and February 12 – 10:00am-12:00pm
What are mineral nutrients, and how do plants use them?
What are the signs of deficiencies and toxicities?
In this course, you will learn some mineral nutrient basics through an overview of soils, chemistry, and plant anatomy.
This class will explore how plants acquire, use, and translocate mineral nutrients.
We will also learn how to determine the impact of mineral nutrients on a plant’s health and how to help plants suffering from improper nutrition.
About the Instructor
George LoCascio is currently an assistant professor of natural resources at Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner MA. He has studied plant insect interactions for his graduate work at UMass-Amherst and has also taught botanical classes at UMass, as well as other institutions across the Commonwealth.
