2020 Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

ELA welcomes two new members to the Board of Directors in 2020

Molly Kerker is Manager of Continuing Education at Brooklyn Botanic Garden. Educated at SUNY Geneseo (BA, English and Sociology) and Brown University (MA, Public Humanities), Molly’s mission is to connect people to the natural world and to one another through shared experiences of wonder, resonance, and civic engagement. Before assuming her current role at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Molly’s passion for education and plants took her across the Northeast, as she filled roles such as coordinator of the Institute for Comparative Modernities at Cornell University, educator at the Haffenraffer Museum of Anthropology at Brown University, and food outreach/community garden coordinator at Catholic Charities of Livingston County. Molly is a birder, musician, and caretaker to a growing collection of native plants outside her apartment in Brooklyn, NY.

Uli Lorimer is the Director of Horticulture for Native Plant Trust. Prior to moving to NE, Uli was the Curator of Native Flora at Brooklyn Botanic Garden for 15 years and an active member on the Council of the Torrey Botanical Society. He served on the Council for 8 years with 3 years as Program Chair and 3 years as Field Committee Chair. One of his professional goals is to strengthen the connections between field botany with public horticulture and seeks to do so through his work in public gardens and through advocacy via public speaking. Uli firmly believes that ecological gardening can help heal our planet and bolster biodiversity in all its forms.
